BY HOLLY CORMIER
I’ve sat on the end of the world
The waves were swelling, overlapping,
Leading out to endless sea.
I have looked beyond the horizon
To where the ocean kisses the sky
And along the edge I realized
It could barely contain me.
Who’s to say you cannot defy
The laws of nature, to get up and fly,
To move forward, to travel farther
These rocky cliffs will not barter
Between freedom and safety,
I choose bravely to live past the stats of eighty,
The future’s hazy but there’s no time for maybe.
I sit upon the edge of the earth,
I know my life and what it’s worth,
The sea is pulling,
My soul is willing,
Towards the lighthouse, my feet are brought forth.
